Recently, Castaway Critters was informed of a cat colony within the city limits of Hiawassee. The volunteers were in shock when they visited the rental trailer and found fifteen adult cats, none of which had been neutered or spayed.

Castaway volunteers went into action. They provided food and started neutering the males. It was too late for the females-most were already pregnant.

So far, Castaway has rescued twenty-six kittens from this one location, and twenty have been adopted. The females have also been spayed.
