Lilah
A stray, six year old, very loving, black cat recently walked out of the woods and into the arms of two Castaway Critters volunteers. Although malnourished, no other medical problems were obvious until the next evening when she became sick and lifeless.

Lilah was observed throughout the night and was immediately taken to the vet the next morning. She was dehydrated and diagnosed with diabetes, a lung infection and an obstruction in her intestines. The bill for Lilah's care and hospital stay was estimated to be around $500. As a no-kill animal rescue, Castaway's was faced with a difficult decision. But the answer was obvious: Save Lilah!

Miracles do happen at Castaway's. After the second set of x-rays there was no longer an obstruction in her intestines and her blood sugar had dropped to normal. She has made great progress since this time and is now up to her normal weight and showing no symptoms of diabetes. The only lingering problem is that her thyroid is slightly low which is rectified by a small pill that she takes daily in her food.

As of this time, Lilah is healthy, very affectionate, and lives to love and be loved. She adores people and would make a great companion for someone who lives alone or a family with older children. All that remains is to find her a forever home.

* Update - Lilah found her forever home. Congratulations to Lilah and her new family.
