Our mission is to save and nurture homeless dogs and cats to match companion animals with loving, life-long homes, to foster responsible pet care, to control overpopulation in our community thru spay/neuter programs, and to assist other shelters and rescue groups in any endeavor to benefit the animals. We believe that the same kindness, compassion, and generosity we extend to our two-legged neighbors should be given to our four-legged friends (who are not able to speak for themselves).

Castaway Critters Pet Rescue is a nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue group based in Blairsville, Georgia. Operating as a 501(C)3 organization and licensed by the state of Georgia Department of Agriculture, we serve Clay County in North Carolina, Towns and Union Counties in Georgia, and wherever the need arises.

As a nonprofit, we receive no public funding and operate solely on donations, adoption fees, and fundraising events. Because of this, Castaway Critters would not be possible without you.

The rescue organization was established in 2006 and at that time our group of volunteers fostered the animals in their homes as we did not have a facility to call our own. In February of 2007, we obtained a building that had been a boarding kennel in the 1980's and had fallen into a state of disrepair. Our volunteers worked diligently to bring the facility up to standards and suitable for our plan. We now have fourteen inside/outside runs for dogs, a cat "house", and thirteen outdoor exercise areas located under magnificent old shade trees.

Thanks to compassionate and caring volunteers and the support of people just like you, Castaway Critters Pet Rescue has been able to place hundreds of dogs and cats in forever homes.

Castaway Critters has teamed up with affiliate partners - those buttons you see on the right side of the page will link you to them. Each one offers something to help us rescue animals in need. MissionFish is the non-profit arm of eBay, and allows us to list items for auction with two great features - we pay less fees, and the buyer can claim a tax deduction since the sale is a charitable donation. iGive has two ways to help animals - by searching using iSearch.iGive, we receive one penny per qualified search (may not sound like much, but those pennies do add up!) and by clicking through our link to shop with iGive merchants, we receive a percentage which varies by vendor. eFundraising online (magazine subscriptions) rebates 40% of new subscriptions. Amazon gives us a percentage also, in return for forwarding potential buyers through our website to their website.
