Puppy
Promises is a program
offered by Castaway
Critters in conjunction
with Saving Shelter
Pets to help reduce
the dog population
in the North Georgia
area. This program
decreases the number
of puppies who end
up in shelters ( where
they are exposed to
diseases and a high-stress
environment) and
it prevents unwanted
puppies from being
born, abandoned, or
euthanized.
Here's
how it works. If your
dog has puppies contact
us and a representative
will come to your
home, vaccinate and
de-worm the pups,
take photos, and have
you sign a contract
stating that you will
not give away or sell
any of the pups. The
contract also states
that you will take
the mother dog, as
well as any other
dogs in the household,
to Peachtree Veterinary
Hospital in Peachtree,
NC, to be spayed or
neutered. Saving Shelter
Pets will pay for
this procedure. The
puppies will be transported
to a no-kill rescue
or shelter in a Northeastern
state such as Connecticut,
Vermont, or New Jersey
where they will be
altered before being
adopted.
It is a win-win situation.
All of your dogs will
be spayed/neutered
at no charge to you,
and you will not have
to find homes for
the puppies. The puppies
will be well cared
for and sent to a
state with mandatory
spay/neuter laws where
they will quickly
find loving homes.
